Stage Payload Budget
Track total payload mass against stage capacity. Add components from presets or enter custom masses.
Motorized and manual translation stages carry a rated payload capacity — the maximum load mass the bearing and drive can support without degradation of accuracy or service life. Exceeding this rating increases friction, deflects the carriage, and can permanently damage the bearing surface. This tool tracks total payload mass by summing a bill of components — mirrors, mounts, posts, adapters, and custom items — against the stage's rated capacity, displaying remaining margin and safety factor. An optional center-of-gravity offset entry computes the resulting torque on the stage, which is compared separately against the stage's moment load rating. Preset masses for common optomechanical components (25 mm and 50 mm kinematic mounts, cage plates, breadboards) accelerate assembly-level estimates without requiring individual weigh-in.
