Isolation System Designer

Size pneumatic isolators, design tuned mass dampers, and verify vibration criterion compliance.

Vibration isolation for optical tables and precision instruments requires matching the isolator natural frequency to the payload and disturbing environment, then verifying compliance against facility vibration criteria. This tool covers three independent design tasks. Pneumatic Sizing computes total and per-isolator stiffness and static deflection from payload mass and target natural frequency, supporting 2-, 3-, or 4-isolator configurations. Tuned Mass Damper Sizing applies the Den Hartog optimization to output TMD mass, frequency, optimal damping ratio, spring stiffness, and damping coefficient. VC Compliance checks measured one-third-octave band velocities at 4–80 Hz against IEST vibration criteria (VC-A through VC-G, from 50 µm/s down to 0.78 µm/s), reporting per-band pass/fail and the highest criterion met. Use VC-D (6.25 µm/s) as the standard target for sub-micron optical work.
